I have been a practising electrical engineer for more than 30 years.
Over the past 10 years, as a freelance consultant, I have specialised in ATEX compliance and process safety interlock systems.
In 2013 Veritex was launched to provide an independent ATEX & SIL verification service to industry users.
I have been involved throughout the most intense period of industrial development in Ireland.
Working experience gained in all of the main Irish industries including, chemical , steel, textile, water and of course, 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry.
From the humble beginnings of Irelands first Process Consultancy at JA Kenny & Partners in the 1970s, followed by spells with the PM group and Jacobs Engineering in the 1980s, I went on to co-found the process consultancy Prochem Engineering the 1990’s.
During this period, explosion protection and process control safety have always been a central theme and a main area of interest.
A 10 year posting on a Merck site, provided the opportunity to learn and develop skills from a multinational company with well developed and recognised corporate safety standards.
In particular, Merck’s safety instrumentation standards defined best practice in the pre SIL era.
